Assisi

Assisi is a small town located in the central Italian region of Umbria. The town is known for its rich history and cultural heritage, and is home to a number of important religious and historical sites. The most famous of these is the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important religious buildings in Italy. The basilica is built on the spot where St. Francis, the founder of the Franciscan order of monks, was born, and is home to a number of important works of art, including frescoes by the medieval artist Giotto. In addition to the basilica, Assisi is also home to a number of other important historical and cultural sights, such as the Rocca Maggiore, a medieval fortress, and the Temple of Minerva, a Roman temple.
