Product name: Rome Tour by Night
Begin this fun 6-hour guided evening tour of Rome by getting picked up at your hotel in the center of the city. Hop on the comfortable luxury minivan and weave through Rome, heading for the Centro Storico, the lively central district filled with Baroque churches, Renaissance palaces and oodles of narrow winding cobblestone lanes.
Learn about the history of this medieval quarter. Linger for a while in Piazza Navona, the beautiful oblong-shaped public space that is lined with restaurants and cafes. Don’t miss the Bernini-designed fountains. Board the coach again and head to Vittorio Emmanuele II monument, the object of much teasing among Romans who call it ‘the big typewriter’ and the ‘wedding cake,’ among other not-so-flattering names. From Capitoline Hill and its main Michelangelo-designed square, pass by the Roman Forum and the Colosseum, looking particularly striking as it’s illuminated at night.
Then, while cruising along the Tiber River, pass by the Circus Maximus and the imposing Castel Sant’ Angelo, stopping in Vatican City to admire St. Peter’s Basilica, perhaps the most famous and recognizable churches in the world. After passing by Piazza del Popolo, hop off the bus for a look at the Trevi Fountain, the city’s amazing 17th-century fountain. Toss a coin in the fountain and then get dropped off at your centrally located hotel or another central location.
